Bulgarian Sunday School in South Africa Teaches 35 Children

A total of 35 children study in the Bulgarian Sunday school ‘Slancho’ in South Africa, its principal Anton Nikolov told BTA in an interview. The kids attend its two facilities: one in Midrand, Johannesburg, and the other in Cape Town.

The school was opened in 2009 under the Bulgarian Sunday Schools Abroad programme of the Ministry of Education and Science, Nikolov explained.

According to him, Bulgarian culture can be preserved by teaching children the Bulgarian language so they can read and write, as well as through folklore – songs, dances, poems.

‘That’s what we teach in our school – Bulgarian language and literature, from first to fourth grade, and fifth and sixth since recently. As the children move up, the classes thin out, but every year we have first-graders – new faces, smiling and willing to learn,’ Nikolov said. He noted that Bulgarian is not the first language of the children and they grow up in an English-speaking environment.

Ethiopian Airlines Group said activities are being carried out to produce air-pollution-free aviation fuel, according to the Ethiopian Airlines Group, Board Chair, Girma Wake.

Ethiopian is in a position to achieve the commitment set by ICAO to fly net zero emission by 2050, it was indicated.

Ethiopian Airlines Group Board Chairman, Girma Wake said that theAirlines is adopting modern practices by following changing circumstances of the aviation industry.

Accordingly, a study has been completed to locally produce air pollution free aviation fuel, he said.

Girma added that consultation with the government and the private sector with a view to taking practical action is underway.

The Boeing Company, Airbus and IATA are providing support to us, he said.

“The study was completed and we want to expand it with relevant government and private stakeholders. The aircrafts that have come out lately are using it, which means it’s definitely something that can be distributed around the world. In Ethiopia, there are many things that can be used for that production. It’s a matter of producing at the factory level. We want individuals, government organizations, and us to come together and let Ethiopia get there first, without being left behind. Hopefully, we’ll be there before 2050. The government is working on it. Boeing is helping us, Airbus is helping us, and so we believe we will get there.”

Ethiopian Airlines Group, CEO Mesfin Tassew on his part stated that activities have been initiated to produce air pollution-free fuel in the country.

The airline is working closely with fuel supply companies and technology institutions.

“ICAO recently issued a plan that states that the aviation industry must be carbon neutral by 2050. Ethiopian Airlines should also fulfill that target. We are also discussing on how to start and grow this sustainable aviation fuel (SAF0 at Boeing aircraft. This SAF must be produced in a special way; the input is agricultural products. We need factories that will allow us to convert it into jet fuel, so we are talking with fuel suppliers and companies that have the technology, and we will find a way to produce this fuel in Ethiopia.”

Air pollution-free aviation fuel is produced from feed by-products and avoids carbon emissions throughout the life cycle.

Air pollution-free aviation fuel derived from various by-products is called Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

Noun Division: Home of Matta chief set ablaze by angry villagers

Flames reportedly engulfed the house of the Chief of Matta village, Saturday night breaking Sunday, May 14, in Magba sub-division, Noun Division of Cameroon’s West region, CNA gathered. Angry villagers allegedly burnt down the house and destroyed other properties he owned.

This happened after an alleged meeting with the Sultan of Bamoun, Nabil Mbombo Njoya.

According to statements from certain natives, the furious population decided to swallow forgiveness for the treachery, after videos and photos showed him smiling with Nabil Mbombo Njoya, Paramount ruler of Bamoun, whom they have always referred to as their son (our son).

The villagers added that it happened after he circulated audio messages on social networks, in which he defended himself by saying that his people forced him to write a letter of forgiveness as well as forced him to be smiling and happy to meet Nabil.

“His dismissal as chief of Matta village has been pronounced and several people are talking about a new village chief who will be chosen and enthroned in the day ahead.” Disclosed a notable.

Smiles evaporated from the faces of the people of Matta village since the young Nabil Mbombo Njoya became King of Bamoun, wherein their chief, old enough to be his father or grandfather was almost molested by the Bamouns for addressing Nabil their Sultan as “my son”. If this was correct to the people of Matta, it did not sound right and respectful in the ears of the Bamouns who expected Sultan Nabil to be addressed as King. This generated tension and fights between the two groups for some time.

The recent action of the Chief of Matta village has today been regarded by his subjects, as an unpardonable betrayal.

Cameroonian children face resurgence of Incurable diseases

Statistics published by the Ministry of Public Health indicate that the epidemiological situation of measles in Cameroon is beginning to call for concern.

“Of the 200 Health Districts in Cameroon, 100 are in measles epidemic, with 4,677 cases and 18 deaths. A situation which can be explained by insufficient vaccination coverage for several years, the growing number of unvaccinated children resulting, in part, from the vaccine hesitation amplified by Covid-19.” Revealed MINSANTE.

In a come together in the Ebolowa-South region recently, health stakeholders advanced the risks involved in nursing measles and the rubella epidemics at this point in time.

“Note that measles remains a very contagious serious viral disease which manifests itself by rashes, watery eyes, and fever. Although rubella and measles have similar symptoms, no treatment is currently available. The only means of prevention is vaccination.” Stressed a health expert.

To avoid crossing the red line, the health warriors are preparing for a national vaccination campaign in Cameroon against the measles and rubella epidemics starting from June 28 to July 2, 2023.

“During this operation, children from 09 months to 5 years will be injected in the shoulder, in hospitals and all places of regrouping (including localities with difficult access, refugee camps, nomadic camps).” The health team disclosed.

The national vaccination campaign has been organized by the Expanded Vaccination Program (EPI) and the Cameroon Red Cross. According to them, groundwork plans are being intensified for smooth and effective vaccination across Cameroon, in a bit to curb the spread of measles and rubella.

Nevertheless, the population (especially parents) is implored to collaborate with the health teams for the sake of their children.

Dismissed SDF politicians are fighting back

Hon. Jean Michel Nincheu, one of the dismissed militants of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, the party of Ni John Fru Ndi, chaired a meeting in Douala on Saturday, May 13, 2023, dubbed “SDF ORIGINEL”, understood in English as ORIGINAL SDF.

This is a group that illegally met and discuss ways to eject the national chairman from power. Now referred to as G27. They were axed from the party through Article 8.2.

“This meeting grouped SDF executives who are working for the return to the fundamentals of the original SDF and change in Cameroon. This meeting was therefore held on Saturday, May 13 in Douala at the initiative of the Honorable Nintcheu Jean Michel.” A member of the G27 disclosed.

This meeting of the dismissed executives under the umbrella of “Original SDF” ended with some declarations

“Several objectives were targeted by the holding of this almost extraordinary meeting. The need to maintain cohesion and the militant base. But above all consider other avenues in addition to legal action before the courts. It was decided to organize very soon a congress of foundation to change the name of the SDF.” They stated in a final declaration.

This acronym today according to them is tainted by the acts of compromise and betrayal of the National Chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi and his stance is no longer able to carry the fight for change.

” This is a strong symbol that aims to give credibility to the struggle that the Cameroonian people are waiting for. With the persistence of the Anglophone crisis in the country, all the militants of the original SDF are called upon not to take part in the May 20 parade. It is for the protagonists of all stripes to be put before their historical responsibilities in the face of the killings which continue to be perpetrated on the ground.” The declaration reads.

The need to structure the G27 was also discussed in the meeting of the so-called “Original SDF”.

“It was decided to maintain the current structures in place, until the announced foundation congress which will see the adoption of new texts to lead to the destinies of the party, which will be born from the ashes of the current SDF” the statement read.

Faced with the ethno-tribal drift which is gaining more momentum in the public space and given the complicit silence of the government, the dismissed executives, asked the media to no longer give voice to individuals carrying this hateful message.
