Alhaji Shani Alhassan Saibu, the Northern Regional Minister, has called on Muslims to continue practising the lessons learnt from Ramadan to ensure peace and togetherness during this year’s election and thereafter.

‘This is important for the country’s prosperity, well-being, advancement and development,’ he said.

Alhaji Saibu made the call on Wednesday while addressing a gathering of Muslims in Tamale to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

He encouraged them to practise self-discipline, and self-control, offer sacrifice, and have empathy for the less privileged.

‘It should, therefore, be evident that we have been granted the benefit of increased bodily and spiritual proximity to the Almighty Allah after going through such a serene period of sacrifice,’ he said.

‘We must strive to enhance the collaboration with the security agencies as this is crucial to the overall creation of a conducive environment for investors to come to the region.’

The Minister urged religious leaders to continue to educate
the citizenry, especially the youth, on the need to maintain peace in the region and the nation in general.

Houses were set ablaze in three villages in Bui division of the North West region as Government forces went on rampage attacking areas where they suspected were hideouts of separatists.

Eid Mubarak was a black event in Kumbo, Bui division after houses were set on fire in Sop, Jakiri subdivision. This came two days after houses were also set on fire in Ber and Kwanso in Kumbo subdivision.

On the night of Eid Mubarak, there civilians and one separatist fighter, were killed in Bamfem as soldiers went on rampage to avenge the death of their colleagues who are dead to have bene ambushed by members of Bui Unity Warriors, a separatist group fighting in the area.

Amongst the victims were a handicap, popularly known as Pa Oriel,90. He was removed from his home alongside a relative and neighbour, then killed. Their bodies were dumped in a nearby stream.

Meanwhile on social media, Separatists brandished an AK47 gun which they claimed was seized from members of the Rapid Intervention Battalion which they killed.

Nana Kwaku Beyennor II, Chief of Dambai, has urged all Muslims to use the Eid al-fitr celebration to pray for peace as the country prepares for the 2024 elections in December.

He called on Muslims to use their platforms to preach peace and unity during and after the polls.

He also urged the Imams and the clergy to organise platforms, where leaders of all the political parties would be brought together and deliberate on issues affecting the development of the nation.

Nana Beyennor II, made the call, when he joined the Ahlussuna Wal-Jama’Ah Muslim community on Wednesday at Dambai Lapaz park as they celebrated Eid Mubarak.

‘Let’s use this occasion of Eid al-fitr to reflect on the spirit of sacrifice and loyalty that inspired Prophet Ibrahim to accept Allah’s commandments.’

He said there was the need to continue to drum home the message of peace because that was the mainstay for economic and social development.

‘Let us remind ourselves that a nation divided, is a nation defeated, so, let us be wise and live
together in peace. Violence only causes destruction, cowards and empty heads engage in violence, brave and intelligent minds engage in peace and dialogue.

‘All should remember that the measure of a man’s bravery is not by the number of people he kills rather it is by the number of lives he saves from being killed,’ Nana Beyennor told Muslims community.

Following the tragic boat mishap that claimed the life of esteemed actor Mr. John Paul Odonwodo, widely known as Junior Pope on April 10th, 2024, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has swiftly taken action to address safety concerns within the industry.

DR. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, issued a statement outlining the decisions made by the guild in response to the heartbreaking incident.

Firstly, all film productions involving riverine areas and boat riding have been suspended indefinitely.

Furthermore, there will be no shoots at any locations nationwide on April 11th, 2024, as a mark of respect and solidarity following the tragedy.

In light of the circumstances surrounding the incident, the film titled ‘Another Side of Life’ has been suspended indefinitely.

The guild has also imposed a temporary ban on actors working with Adamma Luke as a producer until further notice.

‘While we keep searching for the bodies of the remaining persons, may
their souls rest in peace,’ DR. Ejezie Emeka Rollas expressed.

Muslims in Hohoe have marked this year’s Eid al-Fitr with prayers at the Hohoe Adabraka English-Arabic Basic School Park.

Eid al-Fitr, also called the ‘Festival of Breaking the Fast,’ is a religious day celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of a month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan.

Alhaji Mohammed Abdul Hamidu, the Hohoe Municipal Deputy Chief Imam, who led the prayers, said the season was about joy during and after Ramadan and were grateful to Allah for mercies.

He called on all to continue to give alms to the needy and do good.

Mr Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, Hohoe National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate, noted that the prayers of the Muslim community had contributed to the peace of the nation.

He called on them to pray for him and the entire nation ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Mr Tsekpo said the Zongo Community was dear to him and planned to institute a fund that would cater for educational need of Muslims.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Fredrick Kofi
Blagodzi, Volta North Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, commended the Muslims for the peaceful coexistence among themselves and other religious bodies and urged them to continue.

He said the Police were ready to provide any assistance to them with the peace of the Municipality, region and nation as a whole.

The Hohoe Branch of the Hope in Christ Outreach, as part of the Eid al-Fitr celebration, presented 77 packs of assorted soft drinks to Muslim widows.

Evangelist Jeremiah Brempong, leading the donation, said the Ministry preached the gospel of peace to all nationwide.

He said the Ministry undertook such gestures annually to help the needy in society.

Sarki Tajudin Mairiga, Zongo Chief of Hohoe, on behalf of the Municipal Imam, expressed gratitude to all for their concern and gesture towards Muslims in the Municipality.
