Bobo-dioulasso: The municipality of Bobo-Dioulasso received 44 buses to strengthen urban transport in the region. Of this batch, 06 will be deployed in Banfora and 38 will remain in Bobo-Dioulasso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the town hall’s function room hosted a workshop to validate the routes of the new bus network covering several surrounding localities, including Peni, Satiri, Bama, Dande, Koumi, Yegueresso, Samandeni, Tondogosso, Samousso, K´tedougou and Toussiana.

The meeting, chaired by the Governor of the Guiriko region, Mariama Konate/Gnanou, brought together the President of the Special Municipal Delegation, Laurent K. Kontogom, the Director General of SOTRACO, Drissa Sawadogo, as well as numerous local and technical stakeholders.

According to the Governor, this funding aims to ease traffic congestion and reduce the use of tricycles, which are considered more risky. For his part, the president of the Bobo-Dioulasso Special Delegation welcomed the presidential vision and recalled that these buses will strengthen the multimodality of urban transport: “They will facilitate daily travel, particularly to schools and universities.”

The initiative is part of the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education (IPEQ), which has enabled SOTRACO to benefit from 530 buses intended to improve urban mobility, particularly for pupils and students.

Workshop participants validated the new lines and made recommendations to ensure a modern, inclusive and sustainable service.
