Association Donates Equipment Worth 6 Million FCFA to Tougan Health District

Sourou: An association offers equipment worth 6 million to the Tougan health district The Association for Moral, Material and Intellectual Support for Children (AMMIE) donated food and medical-technical equipment worth six million FCFA to the health district of the city of Tougan on Saturday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Association for Moral, Material and Intellectual Support for Children (AMMIE) provided food and medical-technical equipment on Saturday, September 20, 2025, to the Tougan health district. This donation included 8 tons of food, 2000 units of enriched flour, 1000 liters of oil, amoxicillin, paracetamol, and other medical supplies, totaling a value of 6 million FCFA.

“This equipment meets a need created by the crisis we are going through. We decided to make this donation to facilitate the management of malnutrition by the district, which is forced to create other health centers to be able to contain the pressure caused by the security crisis,” said Ilyassa Ouedraogo, project coordinator of the AMMIE association.

For the Chief Medical Officer of the Tougan Health District, Dr. Jerome Nikiema, this donation is part of the pleas made since 2024, in view of the situation prevailing in the province and in particular in the Sourou Valley. Dr. Nikiema said this gesture will ease the burden of malnutrition in his district.

“These are inputs that are used in the management of cases of acute malnutrition in children and pregnant and breastfeeding women. Given our situation, many people are unable to properly meet the various food rations, in terms of quantity and quality. This donation will therefore help to manage these cases of moderate malnutrition,” he said.

Dr. Jerome Nikiema thanked the association and all its partners and invited other organizations to follow in his footsteps for comprehensive management of malnutrition cases in the province. It should be noted that this donation was acquired thanks to the financial support of the Regional Humanitarian Fund for West and Central Africa (FHRAOC) through its implementing partners such as the AMMIE association and the non-governmental organization, International Rescue Committee (IRC).
