Ouagadougou: The Bogodogo University Hospital (CHU-B), in partnership with the Society of Anesthesia, Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine of Burkina (SARMUB), highlighted on Thursday, during the celebration of World Anesthesia Day, the "crucial" role of the anesthesiologist in patient safety.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Director General (DG) of CHU-B, Seydou Nombre, emphasized that World Anesthesia Day (WAD) at the Bogodogo University Hospital is an opportunity to recognize the indispensable role of anesthesiologists in ensuring the safety, comfort, and quality of care for patients. He noted that despite the progress in modern anesthesia through technological advancements, ongoing education, and the dedication of medical teams, it is the expertise and vigilance of anesthesiologists that ensure the safety of surgical procedures.
Mr. Nombre spoke at the Ouagadougou University Hospital-B, underscoring the theme of this year's celebration: "Anesthesiology in health emergency situations." He mentioned that the day would be filled with conferences, discussions, and experience sharing to enhance knowledge, innovate practices, and maintain quality care for patients. He expressed gratitude to the organizing teams and encouraged CHU staff to engage in the discussions, emphasizing the importance of patient safety and excellence in care.
Dr. Idriss Traore, head of the anesthesia-resuscitation department at CHU-B, highlighted the day's significance as an opportunity to reflect on anesthesia's history, strengths, and areas for improvement in Burkina Faso. He described anesthesia as a cross-disciplinary field crucial in various medical procedures, ensuring patients remain pain-free and interventions occur smoothly.
