Ouagadougou: The organizing committee of the African Universities of Communication of Ouagadougou (UACO) announced the 14th edition, scheduled for October 1 to 3, 2025, under the theme: “Influence of the Geopolitical Context on Communication and Development in Africa.”
According to Burkina Information Agency, this edition will serve as a forum to reflect on the impact of geopolitics on communication and development in Africa. Fidele Tamini, the president of the organizing committee, highlighted the Sahel’s central position in various security, geopolitical, media, and technological challenges, affecting human and developmental aspects. Two sub-themes will be addressed: “Sovereignty and Communication in the Sahel: Geopolitical and Media Issues,” and “Issues and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence: The Rise of Influencers in the Face of Traditional Information and Communication Professions.”
The event will feature twenty-four communications presented by twenty-two communicators from Morocco and several West African countries, including Niger, Senegal, Mauritania, Guinea, Ivory Coast, and Burkina Faso. Fidele Tamini emphasized that apart from presentations, the edition will include master classes, exhibitions, and visits to tourist sites.
Tamini also noted the edition’s aim to contribute to the ongoing training of young journalists and communicators, as well as to enhance Burkina Faso’s influence. This event will also be an opportunity for the Ministry of Communication to strengthen ties between researchers and practitioners, promoting the practical application of theoretical innovations and introducing the public to technological changes in the communications sector.
