Committee Formed to Address Challenges Facing Kampti’s Children and Youth

Kampti: A committee to identify the challenges of children and young people at the CDEJ: The Kampti Children and Youth Development Center (CDEJ BF0956) held a meeting, in the presence of the project manager, Pastor Bernard Kambire, to reflect on the real needs of the children and young people of the commune.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting brought together key local stakeholders, including the town hall, social action and health services, the women’s president, the youth president, and the Muslim community leader. The Catholic community leader and the local chief were also invited.

Pastor Bernard Kambire stressed that “children and young people represent the future of Kampti and it is our collective duty to anticipate their needs to offer them a better living environment.”

The center’s director, Nadome Farma, indicated that young people are going through a crucial period marked by numerous challenges hindering their development. To address this, a reflection and investigation committee has been established, with Dr. Constantin Bassole as its chairman.

According to Mr. Farma, the committee’s mission will be to identify, analyze and classify problems affecting children and young people, in order to identify the most urgent ones and propose appropriate solutions.

The Kampti CDEJ, opened in 2014 thanks to a partnership between the Kampti Evangelical Protestant Church and Compassion International Burkina Faso, currently supports 264 participants (140 girls and 124 boys), 18 babies monitored at home and 15 pregnant or breastfeeding mothers.

The center carries out several key actions, including academic support, health care reimbursed at 90%, as well as training and excursions, in order to contribute to the holistic development of children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
