Gourma: Governor Kafando Urges SRC-Est Winners to Bring Trophies to SNC 2026


Ouagadougou: The Eastern Regional Culture Week (SRC) concluded on Saturday in Fada N’Gourma after three days of competition centered on the theme “Culture, Youth and Transmission of Social Values.” Governor of the Eastern Region, Ram Joseph Kafando, commended the participation of cultural stakeholders and encouraged the winners chosen for the upcoming National Culture Week (SNC) 2026 to strive for the highest number of trophies.



According to Burkina Information Agency, Governor Kafando expressed his satisfaction and pride in the cultural event, which he saw as a celebration of regional cultural heritage. He acknowledged the creativity and richness displayed over the past few days, extending his tribute to artists, cooks, wrestlers, archers, and all cultural participants for their dedication.



The Governor also acknowledged the professionalism of the jury and the commitment of the organizing committee, who managed to execute the event successfully despite challenging security conditions. He emphasized that celebrating culture reinforces Burkina Faso’s national identity and unity.



Governor Kafando expressed gratitude to Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Gilbert Pingdwende Ouedraogo, Secretary General of the Government, Ousmane Ouattara, His Majesty Untaanba, 32nd King of Gulmu, and Reverend Pastor Albert Yonli, co-sponsor of the event, for their support and blessings.



SNC Secretary General Kohoun Lansa Mose, representing the national committee, also congratulated the winners. He highlighted that the current edition recorded more registrations than its predecessor, indicating the population’s resilience. He noted, “Culture is a source of strength and resilience. These regional weeks have demonstrated its ability to overcome challenges.”



The 2025 Eastern Regional Culture Week successfully selected artists and athletes to represent the region at the 22nd SNC edition, scheduled for 2026 in Bobo-Dioulasso. Regional authorities are hopeful that these cultural ambassadors will secure numerous trophies, consistent with past achievements.
