Governor Nassir Reshuffles Mombasa County Government Cabinet

Mombasa: Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has announced significant changes to his county government cabinet, marking his first reorganization since taking office in September 2022. A notable change is the removal of popular local actor Kenneth Ambani from his position as Youth, Gender, and Sports Executive. Jonathan Wepukhulu has been appointed as his replacement.

According to Kenya News Agency, the reshuffle also includes the nomination of Ibrahim Khamis as the County Executive for Blue Economy, Co-operatives, Agriculture, and Livestock. Khamis is set to take over from Kibibi Abdalla, who has been reassigned to the Environment and Water portfolio. This position was previously held by the Deputy Governor, Francis Thoya. Thoya will now focus on overseeing flagship project coordination and delivery, ensuring the supervision of key administrative priorities across all departments.

Both Wepukhulu and Khamis will need to secure approval from the County Assembly before they can officially assume their new roles. Governor Nassir emphasized that these changes are part of a broader commitment to maintaining an efficient and responsive county government that effectively addresses the needs of its residents.

In a statement to the Kenya News Agency, Khamis expressed gratitude to Governor Nassir for the nomination and the trust placed in him. He pledged to serve the residents of Mombasa with dedication and loyalty in his new role, highlighting the importance of his docket in the county’s administration.
