Handover of the Strengthened EMIS

The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology on Friday, 26th August 2022, conducted the handover ceremony for the strengthened Education Management Information System (EMIS), developed through a national consultancy; InSIST Global.

 

This is in line with the project; Youth Empowerment through TVET in The Gambia that KOICA funds with technical Support from UNESCO. The ceremony was Chaired by Lamin Ceesay, Director of Planning, Budget, and Policy Analysis of the Ministry.

 

In his key remark, Dr. Yusupha Touray, Permanent Secretary of MoHERST, highlighted that the Ministry has been struggling to establish a database. Thus, he is pleased that a big void has been filled with the advent of the EMIS database system. Dr. Touray extended gratitude to UNESCO-KOICA for the active partnership and InSIST Global for developing the unique online database system.

 

The UNESCO representative for the Project, Ndeban Joof underlined the significance of the EMIS as it will ease data collection challenges. According to her, the effective utilization of the strengthened EMIS by institutions under MoHERST will make data available.

 

Later on, InSIST global made a live demonstration of the utilization of the EMIS and then proceeded to the official handover.

 

The Education Management Information System is hoped to address national data needs of the Ministry, and ensure intergovernmental and other partner needs are readily available and accessible at any given time.
