Mouhoun Municipality Receives Food Aid from CARE International and Partners

Ouagadougou: The NGO CARE International, in partnership with WU PAKUWE, has distributed essential food supplies to 286 vulnerable households in Tcheriba, including internally displaced persons, as part of the TALISOC project. This initiative, conducted on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, aims to support humanitarian assistance, development, and social cohesion in the Boucle du Mouhoun region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the food distribution is a component of CARE International’s policy to assist the State in its development and humanitarian efforts through the TALISOC (Transitional Development Assistance through Livelihoods Improvement and Social Cohesion) project. Each beneficiary received cereals, oil, and salt, contributing to alleviating basic needs during the challenging rainy season.

Ouesseni Logora, President of the Tcheriba Special Delegation, expressed gratitude for the continued support from CARE International and its partners. He emphasized the importance of this partnership in enhancing the well-being of local populations.

Ibrahim P. Yameogo, the food security technical officer for the project, explained that TALISOC operates in humanitarian, development, and social cohesion areas, covering four municipalities in the Bankui region. In Tcheriba, beneficiaries were selected from several localities, assisted by local targeting committees and technical services.

In addition to food aid, TALISOC provides dignity and hygiene kits and supports farmers through training and agricultural resources. The project also promotes social cohesion by strengthening local conflict prevention and resolution mechanisms.

Beneficiaries expressed satisfaction and relief, highlighting the renewed hope brought by this support during a season marked by food scarcity.
