Ouagadougou: The National Land Coordination Authority (ANCF) conducted a prospecting mission in the Guiriko region on Tuesday to identify and secure areas intended for the establishment of industrial units. Led by the Director of Operations, Boromo Traore, the delegation met with regional and local authorities before visiting the planned industrial sites.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the mission commenced with a meeting at the governor’s office where Governor Mariama Konate/Gnanou emphasized the significance of safeguarding land earmarked for industrial projects to enhance Bobo-Dioulasso’s economic stature. She stressed the essential role of ANCF’s support in fortifying these efforts.
ANCF Director of Operations, Boromo Traore, highlighted that this initiative aligns with the vision of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, who prioritizes industrialization in his governance strategy. Traore noted that since the June 14, 2025, meeting in Manga, technical structures have been tasked with establishing industrial zones across all regions, under ANCF’s supervision to ensure the realization of this vision.
The mission progressed to field visits, including Borodougou and Tondogosso, accompanied by the PDS of district 04, Balemany Serissouma, and the Regional Director of Urban Planning and Housing of Guiriko, Yaya Ouattara. An industrial site spanning 27 hectares was identified, although it was noted that it is currently heavily colonized, a situation ANCF plans to address with local authorities.
Yaya Ouattara emphasized the need for any industrial project to comply with the zones outlined in the Master Plan for Development and Urban Planning, noting a 2021 ministerial note that prohibits issuing favorable opinions for already planned sites.
The ANCF’s mission is set to continue in Orodara, Banfora, Niangoloko, and Gaoua, with the ongoing goal of securing industrial zones to foster a conducive environment for industrialization and support the national economic agenda.
