Yaounde: The Social Democratic Front (SDF) party has announced its strategic plans to rescue Cameroon within a year if elected in the upcoming October elections. The details of their proposed interventions were revealed during an extraordinary convention held on March 1, 2025, at the Yaounde sports complex.
According to Cameroon News Agency, the SDF outlined that it would require a maximum of 100 days in office to put an end to the ongoing violence in the North West and South West regions, which have been plagued by hostilities for the past eight years. Additionally, the party plans to take a year to restore dignity to the people of the great north and three years to rebuild Cameroon’s institutions. The SDF aims to accelerate the socio-economic transformation of the country within a single mandate.
Joshua Osih, the party chairman, was announced as the SDF’s flag bearer for the October presidential elections. He was chosen by acclamation, being the only candidate who submitted his file for the position. This marks Osih’s second bid for the presidency, following his previous attempt in 2018.
The SDF convention was attended by several other opposition party leaders and opinion leaders, including Akere Muna, Cabra Libii, and Agbor Balla.
