Ouagadougou: Kambambori 'A' school was the venue for the official opening of the annual pedagogical conference for preschool and primary school teachers of the Basic Education District (CEB) of Zorgho, held this Wednesday. The event was inaugurated by Rodrigue Dabire, Secretary General of the Town Hall, who represented the President of the special municipal delegation. The ceremony saw the participation of Nobila Celestine Zagre/Zoungrana, Provincial Director of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education, and Raogo Jean Claude Ouedraogo, Head of the CEB of Zorgho.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Dabire used his opening address to deliver the President's encouragement to the teachers, commending their dedication to youth training. He highlighted the significance of the ongoing educational reforms and urged teachers to ensure their effective implementation. The upcoming 2025-2026 school year is set to introduce several new initiatives, including teaching English from the first grade, integrating information and communication technologies, and offering career introductions. These changes aim to adequately prepare students for a "competitive and globalized" environment.
The conference, taking place from October 15-18 nationwide, is part of the Ministry of Basic Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages (MEBAPLN)'s reform efforts. The goal is to enhance education quality through the Integrative Pedagogical Approach (API), in place since 2015, and to equip educational stakeholders to tackle emerging challenges.
Mr. Ouedraogo, Head of the CEB, lauded the teachers for their outstanding results in the 2025 Primary School Certificate (CEP) and encouraged them to continue molding responsible and patriotic citizens. He stressed the importance of effectively integrating conference themes into classroom practices.
Ms. Zagre/Zoungrana, the provincial director overseeing preschool and primary education, acknowledged the teachers' resolve and their pivotal role in the educational system's success. She motivated them to instill in students a passion for hard work and a sense of duty.
Over the four-day conference, participants will delve into the main theme: "Implementation of educational reforms and appropriation of integration situations," with a focus on the new Orientation Framework for Continuing Education and Educational Supervision (COFCEP). In Zorgho, teachers are engaging in this crucial educational activity across five different sites.
