Ouagadougou: The Tuy Child Protection Network (RPE) adopted its 2025-2026 annual action plan during a general meeting on Thursday, September 18, 2025. The plan covers the period from September 2025 to August 2026. It is structured around two main axes comprising several activities, including courtesy visits to administrative, customary and religious authorities, an advocacy session for the implementation of the network approach, as well as advocacy with umbrella organizations of cotton growers and gold miners.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the plan also includes radio broadcasts on the network approach, training and retraining of network members, awareness sessions on child protection in the province, as well as school conferences for the benefit of young people. The representative of the interim coordinator of RPE/Tuy, Wamnoaga Zongo, stated that this plan constitutes the benchmark for all the network’s activities in favor of child protection.
However, he noted that the RPE/Tuy still faces a lack of partners to finance its actions. Addressing the child protection situation in Tuy, Mr. Zongo indicated that, despite efforts, it remains worrying. Violence against children is recurrent, particularly in the commune of Hounde. The most frequent cases involve early marriages, kidnappings, and unwanted pregnancies, he said.
According to him, the presence of numerous gold mining sites contributes significantly to this violence. He called on all stakeholders to redouble their efforts to protect children, because “the future of our country depends on that of its children.” In his presentation on the network approach, Mr. Zongo recalled that the RPE plays a central role in the care of children who are victims of violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation, abandonment and trafficking.
