Sapouy: The Sapouy Departmental Water and Forestry Service, in collaboration with the Provincial Directorate of Infrastructure and Accessibility, has planted 50 Cola acuminata plants, commonly known as cola trees, in the courtyard of Sapouy Primary School A. The initiative aims to strengthen vegetation and provide more shade for students.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the assistant to the Water and Forestry Department, Zeria Sankara, explained the activity's goal of enhancing the school's vegetation and offering shade to students. To ensure the operation's success, protective grilles were brought with support from students and teaching staff, emphasizing the importance of watering and protection.
Mr. Sankara highlighted the relevance of the planting time, noting that planting can occur anytime when water is accessible, which influenced the choice of date. The decision to plant at School A was strategic due to its fenced yard, providing better protection for the trees. Sankara urged teachers to raise awareness among children about the significance of trees.
The school's principal, Hazara Sawadogo, expressed gratitude to the Environment Department for selecting their school for the tree planting. She assured that the students and staff would take good care of the plants and called for community support in protecting them from wandering animals.
This operation at Sapouy School A aims to create a greener and more pleasant environment for students in the future while educating them on the importance of tree protection.
