Nazinon: The High Authority for State Control and the Fight against Corruption (ASCE-LC) organized an awareness session on civics, patriotism, and the fight against corruption for new high school graduates undergoing compulsory patriotic immersion in the Nazinon region. The session took place on Friday in Manga.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event gathered 350 high school graduates who were staying at the Community House and the Atti la GrSce High School in Manga. The initiative aimed to instill values of transparency, civic-mindedness, patriotism, and civic responsibility, as explained by Adjaratou Ouangrawa, head of the mission and state controller at ASCE-LC.
Ms. Ouangrawa emphasized that these sessions are designed to equip participants to combat corruption, a social issue that also impedes the country’s economic development. The ASCE-LC representatives defined the boundaries of corruption and engaged in dialogue with participants, discussing its various manifestations in Burkina Faso.
Issues such as examination fraud, favoritism, bribery, academic plagiarism, forgery, and criminal conspiracy were identified as core concerns. At the conclusion of the discussions, Ms. Ouangrawa encouraged the graduates to adopt honest conduct and become actively involved in the fight against corruption, underscoring that it affects all social classes.
The ASCE-LC delegation from Ouagadougou concluded their visit with the slogan “In the name of our integrity, let us fight corruption.” Thierry Nikiema, the mission officer for the Nazinon region at the Presidency of Faso, noted that more than 1,800 high school graduates from the region are currently in patriotic immersion in Manga, receiving civic and moral training focused on discipline, solidarity, respect for institutions, and social cohesion.
