Bena Village Donates Drone Worth Over 5 Million FCFA to Local Defense Volunteers

Solenzo: The population of the village of Bena, situated 15 km from Solenzo, has generously donated a drone valued at 5 million 556,000 FCFA to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in their village. This contribution, made on Friday, September 12, 2025, aims to enhance the VDP's capabilities in combating terrorism.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the drone handover ceremony was attended by the villagers, municipal authorities, and officials from the Defense and Security Forces. The initiative was spearheaded by a collective effort from the villagers, as detailed by the village's chief, Madou Kienou, who emphasized the unity and commitment of Bena's residents. He highlighted that this acquisition was made possible through a voluntary contribution from the village's daughters and sons.

Chief Madou Kienou noted the significant contributions from various groups within the village. Women contributed 1,500,000 CFA francs, while former students of Bena provided 500,000 CFA francs. The remaining funds were pooled by the men of the village to secure the drone, which is expected to significantly improve the operational effectiveness of the VDPs.

Marou Ilboudo, the president of Solenzo's special delegation, commended the villagers for setting an example of unity and patriotism. He acknowledged their collective effort in supporting the nation's call to action and emphasized the importance of community collaboration in safeguarding their country, province, and village.
