Boulkiemde: The meeting room of the regional transport directorate in Koudougou hosted the opening ceremony of the plenary restitution session of the results of the regional consultations on the land transport sub-sector on Thursday. The activity was officially launched by the High Commissioner of Boulkiemde province, Salimata Ouedraogo/Sanou, representing the Governor of Nando region, Adama Jean Yves Bere.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the governor, through his representative, recalled that land transport constitutes “a cornerstone of the economic and social development of our country, but remains faced with numerous challenges.” These challenges are particularly pronounced in the Nando region due to specific geographical, economic, social, and security realities.
The regional consultations, organized as a precursor to the national general assembly, enabled the gathering of local stakeholders’ voices, identification of problems affecting the sub-sector, and proposal of concrete, innovative solutions tailored to local realities. Among the recommendations from the consultations are the professionalization of the sector, strengthening of competitiveness, improvement of safety, and technological modernization to ensure the sustainability of the land transport system.
The governor congratulated all participants for the quality of the discussions and expressed hope that this restitution session would be “a decisive step in the construction of a sustainable, efficient, and suitable framework for land transport in the Nando region, contributing in turn to the harmonious development of our nation.” The meeting will allow for collective validation of the recommendations resulting from the regional consultations before their transmission to the national level.
