Burkina Faso’s Ambitious Industrialization Plan: Joint Mission Explores 200-Hectare Factory Site in L©o

Ouagadougou: In accordance with the instructions of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, a joint mission explored Tuesday in L©o, in the province of Sissili, region of Nando, an industrial and commercial site of 200 hectares, intended for the construction of factories for processing local raw materials.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Technical Support Officer at the National Land Coordination Authority, Yacouba Bila, stated that the mission was initiated by the Ministry in charge of Trade and Industry to implement the President’s vision of establishing industrial units in every region and province of Burkina Faso. The President aims to transform local raw materials and create employment opportunities for the youth.

Bila emphasized the importance of reducing massive exports of local products, which currently create employment opportunities abroad while the youth and women of Burkina Faso need jobs. He urged the local communities to support the President’s initiative for the betterment of the country.

Wendlasida Anatole Abraham Tapsoba, the technical support officer at the General Directorate of Industrial Development, expressed his satisfaction that the designated site for factory establishments is not illegally occupied. The site, located in the Mouna district of L©o town, currently hosts a Sofitex store, a cashew processing unit, and Faso Bio fuel.

The exploration in L©o is part of a broader initiative that includes similar missions across various provinces in Burkina Faso. Following the exploration, discussions with landowners and site development will be undertaken to attract potential investors interested in contributing to Burkina Faso’s industrial growth, assured Tapsoba.
