Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe government has announced that visas will be free for African nationals visiting Burkina Faso. This decision was made public during the Council of Ministers meeting held in Ouagadougou, chaired by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Council of Ministers adopted an additional report to the amending finance law for the 2025 budget, focusing on the establishment of free visas for nationals of African countries. The initiative aligns with the Pan-Africanist vision of the Head of State and is aimed at strengthening the historical bonds of brotherhood between African peoples, as stated by the Minister of Security, Divisional Police Commissioner, Mahamadou Sana.
Minister Sana elaborated that while African nationals will not have to pay visa fees, this does not equate to a visa exemption. The decree seeks to promote the free movement of African peoples and their goods within Burkinabe territory and enhance African integration efforts, underscoring Burkina Faso's commitment to fostering unity and cooperation among African nations.
