Ouagadougou: The Circle for Islamic Studies, Research and Training (CERFI) has officially launched the 2025 edition of National Solidarity Week during a press conference in Ouagadougou. This year’s event, themed “Brotherhood, Mutual Aid, and Community Engagement: Values at the Heart of Islam,” will take place from August 11 to 17, 2025, across all regions and provinces of Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the launch comes in a national context marked by challenges such as insecurity, poverty, and population displacement. Dr. Hamidou Yam©ogo, the head of CERFI, emphasized the importance of solidarity as both a spiritual and civic duty. He highlighted that Islam is not only a religion of faith but also a way of life centered on sharing, compassion, and mutual aid.
Dr. Yam©ogo further explained that solidarity is an act of worship and true charity towards others. It signifies a human and humanitarian presence, aiming to restore dignity and hope to those in need. CERFI is committed to making the week a series of benevolent acts, encouraging unity through community engagement.
The National Office unveiled a program of activities, including blood donation drives and food distributions, along with a symbolic donation to mark the official launch. Donation collections for material goods and cash will be organized at regional coordination and municipal offices, with specific collection points set up in districts for citizen contributions.
