Accra: Private legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has firmly stated that maintaining a distance from politicians has safeguarded his integrity and independence. Speaking on GhanaWeb's Lowdown show, Ampaw emphasized that his career remains free from the influence of bribes.

According to Ghana Web, Ampaw highlighted his deliberate choice to avoid private meetings with powerful political figures such as presidents and ministers. This strategy, he noted, ensures that he is not swayed by gifts or inducements that could compromise his professional independence.

Ampaw expressed that his refusal to forge close relationships with politicians allows him to critique governments on both sides of the political spectrum without fear of retribution. He further observed that public commentators and religious leaders who get too close to politicians often lose their ability to speak candidly on national issues.
