Residents Laud Governor’s Initiative to Open Feeder Roads

Nairobi: Residents of Nyansiongo ward in Borabu constituency have expressed their appreciation for Governor Amos Nyaribo’s efforts to enhance the county’s feeder marram roads, which aim to improve transport and communication networks.

According to Kenya News Agency, the road connecting Matutu Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) church area to Amakara junction had become virtually impassable, disrupting transportation for worshipers, traders, and farmers. The road had not been repaired for several years, leading to significant challenges for the community. Residents have now shown gratitude towards the ministry of roads and public works for undertaking the task of upgrading and making the road accessible.

Thomas Orina Nyakundi, a resident of Matutu village, highlighted the difficulties faced over the years due to the road’s poor condition. He noted that during worship services and requiem services, navigating the road, especially during rains, was a daunting task, often requiring them to carry caskets over long distances to reach the church. The county government’s decision to improve the road’s condition has been warmly welcomed.

Ms. Carren Nyaboke, a vegetable farmer, expressed her excitement over the road improvements, as it would enable her to transport her vegetables to Nyansiongo market more efficiently. Previously, bodaboda riders were hesitant to carry luggage due to the road’s rugged and slippery condition, which resulted in frequent motorcycle breakages and high repair costs. Nyaboke urged residents to support the engineers during the construction process and to adhere to safety measures to prevent injuries or property damage.

Governor Amos Nyaribo initiated a program in January called ‘Barabara Mashinani,’ which launched the construction of 400 kilometers of marram roads throughout the county. The initiative has significantly improved the transport and communication services in Nyamira County.
