Young People in Mouhoun Commune of Ouarkoye Engage in Civic Action Through Sanitation Activity

Mouhoun: Young people from the patriotic immersion program in the commune of Ouarkoye carried out a sanitation activity on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in and around the town hall. This symbolic gesture was welcomed by the municipal authorities, who saw it as an encouraging sign for the promotion of civic-mindedness and social cohesion.

According to Burkina Information Agency, from the early hours of Thursday morning, the beneficiaries of the patriotic immersion program mobilized to restore shine and cleanliness to the town hall of Ouarkoye. Equipped with brooms, dabas, and rakes, they set about sweeping the yard, weeding the surroundings, and removing the piles of rubbish that had accumulated.

The initiative, which brought together around ten new graduates at the end of their patriotic immersion training, created an atmosphere of solidarity and mutual aid. For the participants, it was not just about cleaning, but also about performing a civic act that lived up to the values of patriotism and responsibility instilled in them during their immersion stay. "We wanted to show that the youth of Ouarkoye are ready to serve the community and contribute, even modestly, to the development of our town," said one of the participants.

The town hall's secretary general, Ousmana Timothee Sogli, who welcomed the young people, congratulated them. "Your action is an example for the entire population. It proves that civic-mindedness and patriotism are not just words, but realities that everyone can embody through simple and concrete actions," he declared. Mr. Sogli also encouraged young people to continue this momentum and to remain positive relays in their respective neighborhoods and villages.

According to him, the cleanliness of a working environment like the town hall is essential not only for the image of the institution but also for the efficiency of the public service. Beyond the sanitation aspect, this activity has a symbolic significance which illustrates the desire of young people to take an active part in building a more responsible and more united society.

In a national context where the authorities are increasing calls for unity and civic engagement, the gesture of the Ouarkoye students appears to be a concrete response to this demand. The young people expressed their satisfaction at having contributed, even on a small scale, to improving their immediate environment. This action proves once again that the youth of Ouarkoye can be a driving force for positive change, provided they believe in their abilities and transform their ideals into tangible actions.
