Speaking on the floor of Parliament on June 18, 2026, the MP recounted how a divorced couple reunited after meeting at a viewing centre during the Black Stars' opening World Cup match.

According to Ghana Web, the man and his ex-wife, who had been separated for four years, found themselves at the same viewing centre to watch Ghana's clash against Panama. In the excitement that followed Ghana's dramatic 95th-minute winning goal, the man embraced his former wife in celebration, an encounter that eventually rekindled their relationship.

Another incident at one of the viewing centres involved a man who had divorced his wife four years ago. The two unexpectedly hugged at the viewing centre, and the woman was later seen with her former husband, as narrated by MP Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo. "This is what yesterday's match has done to our country," he noted.

Worlanyo Tsekpo also highlighted how the match helped bridge divisions between residents of Alavanyo and Nkonya, two communities in the Volta Region whose long-standing conflict has strained relations between families for years. He disclosed that families from both communities came together at a viewing centre to support the Black Stars, setting aside their differences for a common cause.
