Kourittenga: The RILGRE Project Exhibits Its Achievements in the Municipalities of Andemtenga and Pouytenga

Kourittenga: The Solidar Suisse consortium and the Beog-nere Association, through the RILGRE project, conducted a field visit from Wednesday, September 10 to Thursday, September 11, 2025, in the municipalities of Andemtenga and Pouytenga, Kourittenga province. The objective of this tour was to present the achievements in environmental regreening and land restoration.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the mission to present the achievements in environmental regreening and land restoration was attended by the regional director of Agriculture of NakambE, Germain AimE TraorE, the provincial directors of Agriculture and the Environment of Kourittenga, the presidents of the special delegations of the host municipalities, as well as the heads of decentralized environmental services and technical support zones.

The delegation visited several projects, including a 2-hectare grove and a 5-hectare rice lowland built in Boundoudougou, in the commune of Andemtenga, a 1.5-hectare grove in the village of Kouritbil-Yargo, farmers' field schools, and the bio-input production cooperative in the village of Baka.

LassanE KabrE, the community facilitator of the RILGRE project, stated that these actions aim to "green the environment and restore the land for the benefit of the populations." The President of the special delegation of the commune of Andemtenga, Wahab Sawadogo, welcomed the choice of his commune to house a grove and a rice-growing lowland, which he considers to be "sustainable assets for the resilience of communities."

Soumaila Komi, the provincial director of Water and Forests of Kourittenga, congratulated the commitment of the project and invited the populations of the two communes to take care of the groves made available to them. Germain AimE TraorE expressed his gratitude to the consortium for its support in agricultural and environmental development, encouraging the continuation of such initiatives in other localities in the region.

Through these achievements, the RILGRE project contributes not only to the preservation of the environment but also to the improvement of the livelihoods of rural populations, strengthening their capacity to adapt to the effects of climate change.
