Passore: Passore province celebrated the National Tree Day (NTD) in the village of Tanghin, within the commune of Yako. For this occasion, 300 medicinal plants comprising 11 different species were planted in the provincial Passore grove, which spans approximately 2 hectares.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, was led by the Secretary General of the Province (SGP) of Passore, Noelie Berehoumdougou/Kabore, who represented the High Commissioner. The planting initiative was supported technically by the Provincial Directorate of Water and Forests of Passore, the Technical Secretariat for Labor-Intensive Road Works (ST-TRHIMO), and the Yako Detention and Correctional Facility (MACY).
Drissa Bance, the Provincial Director of Water and Forests (DPEF) of Passore, stated that the creation of this grove is a response to the call from President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, to “Create groves of medicinal plants and traditional therapeutic herbs” in each province. He also mentioned that this grove aims to counteract the adverse effects of climate change while affirming the province’s health sovereignty.
The DPEF expressed satisfaction with the participation of the actors contributing to the success of the NTD and thanked them for their ongoing dedication to establishing the provincial grove. Drissa Bance extended gratitude to His Majesty, Naba Djiguemde of Yako, for his support in the reforestation project.
His Majesty pledged to ensure the site is equipped with a water point and a protective fence. The Secretary General, Noelie Berehoumdougou/Kabore, also expressed appreciation to all participants involved in the reforestation efforts and encouraged the local community to maintain the provincial grove properly.
