Kumasi: Kumawood actor Nana Kofi Agyemang, known as Oboy Siki, has stirred controversy by stating that he will never face legal trouble for engaging in sexual relations with girls as young as 16.
According to Ghana Web, Oboy Siki revealed in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM that although he once favored 18-year-old girls, he now prefers those who are 16. The 76-year-old actor contends that while Ghanaian law permits sexual relations with individuals aged 16, it restricts marriage to those who are at least 18. Oboy Siki claims his interactions are consensual, asserting that he only engages with those who reciprocate interest.
The legal framework in Ghana, as outlined in the Ghana Children's Act of 1998 (Act 560), sets the minimum age for marriage at 18 years. Meanwhile, the Criminal Code of 1960 establishes the age of consent for sexual activity at 16 years. In a previous 2019 interview with ZionFelix, Oboy Siki made headlines by claiming he had been with over 2,500 girls below the age of 18. He attributed his lifestyle to familial influence, specifically pointing to his father's interactions with women.
Oboy Siki further emphasized his preference for younger girls over older actresses like Nana Ama McBrown, Vivian Jill, and Mercy Asiedu. He mentioned that his romantic pursuits span across various districts and villages throughout Ghana, underscoring his longstanding attraction to younger individuals.
