Parents Mobilize for School Field Maintenance at Ourouko School

Djibasso: Parents of students at the Ourouko school mobilized on Saturday, July 9, 2025, to weed the 1.5-hectare school field. At the request of the Parents’ Association (APE) office, parents got involved in giving the school field a boost by clearing it of weeds.

According to Burkina Information Agency, peanuts and beans were planted on an area of one and a half hectares to improve the nutrition of students during the 2025-2026 school year. This activity is part of the continued implementation of the presidential initiative aimed at promoting local canteens.

At the end of this mobilization, the spokesperson for the wise men, Nena Ezekiel Demb©l©, thanked all the participants for their commitment to children’s education. As a reminder, the Ourouko public primary school is an educational structure with six standardized classes, accommodating 372 students. It has three classrooms built of solid materials, one classroom under a tent donated by UNICEF, and two mud classrooms. The latter are the result of the efforts of the parents of students, but they are in poor condition, supported by wooden supports.

To this end, the president of the APE office, Anatole Demb©l©, and his deputy, Jacques Demb©l©, are launching an appeal to people of good will as well as to the sons and daughters of the village to support the construction of new classrooms, so that students benefit from better learning conditions.
