Ziro Holds Participatory Workshop for Regional Development Plan

Ziro: The Regional Council of the Nando region organized a provincial participatory diagnostic workshop in the meeting room of the High Commission to develop the Regional Development Plan (PRD) for local authorities. The meeting was attended by provincial directors, presidents of special delegations from Ziro’s six municipalities, paramilitary authorities, association and NGO heads, customary and religious leaders, and representatives of people with disabilities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop was chaired by the Secretary General of the High Commissioner of Ziro Province, Adams Davou. In his opening remarks, he expressed gratitude and encouragement to the participants, acknowledging the contributions of the regional special delegation’s president and team to the population’s welfare. He urged attendees to support the Regional Council’s mission.

Participants were divided into groups to discuss local realities and suggest priority actions. A plenary session then summarized these contributions. Karim Pyma Bado, the research and planning officer at the Nando Regional Council, emphasized the workshop’s importance, highlighting that it allows the population to share their local realities and propose economic and social development projects. This data will inform the drafting of the Nando Regional Development Plan (PRD).

In Cassou, road accessibility was highlighted as a significant issue. Bibiane Kayalma, president of the Cassou Special Delegation, noted the challenge of inadequate roads hindering development and stressed the need to address the issue of internally displaced persons.

Other municipalities in Ziro province shared similar challenges, including issues related to roads, education, agriculture, and trade. The workshop, initiated by the Regional Council, aims to gain a better understanding of local authorities’ experiences and incorporate them into the Regional Development Plan (PRD) for 2026-2030.
