GHS Tricycle Overturns Mid-Trip, Raises Concerns Over Road Conditions

Accra: A Ghana Health Service (GHS) tricycle, used for transporting nurses, overturned after reportedly losing control, narrowly avoiding a fatal accident. The incident has sparked concerns about the safety of road conditions in the area.

According to Ghana Web, a video shared on the social media platform We Love Ghana shows several bystanders at an undisclosed location assisting in overturning the tricycle. The post accompanying the video highlighted that the GHS tricycle ambulance lost control and overturned, nearly costing the nurses on board their lives. The video also highlighted the poor condition of the road where the incident took place.

The tricycles are part of the Free Primary Health Care (FPHC) initiative and are meant to aid health workers and community volunteers in delivering essential services to underserved communities. These tricycles are not intended for emergency medical transport but are equipped with compartments for the safe transport of vaccines while maintaining the cold chain. The incident has brought attention to the importance of ensuring safe travel conditions for health workers who rely on these tricycles for their critical work.
